NOTICES OF COVERED ACTIONS

A Notice of Covered Action is posted when the CFTC obtains a final judgment or settlement that—by itself or together with other judgments or orders in the same action—results in more than $1 million in monetary sanctions. This serves as notice to anyone who submitted a tip via Form TCR that the case is eligible for payout of an award.

Whistleblowers must submit a Form WB-APP within 90 days of the posting of a Notice of Covered Action, so monitor the webpage periodically if you submitted a tip. Be sure to subscribe to receive notices via email, and if a relevant Notice of Covered Action is posted, apply for an award within 90 days from the date of the Notice of Covered Action.

The CFTC does not post notices regarding Related Actions, so whistleblowers must monitor the websites of other regulators, and the CFTC’s Press Releases, to determine if there is an eligible Related Action. Whistleblowers must submit a Form WB-APP for any Related Action within 90 days of the date of an order resolving the Related Action. Whistleblowers can apply for an award associated with a CFTC Covered Action, and multiple Related Actions, using a single Form WB-APP.
