The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is an independent U.S. government agency that regulates the U.S. derivatives markets.  To qualify for an award under the CFTC’s Whistleblower Program, a claimant must help the CFTC establish a violation of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) or the agency’s regulations.  Whether or not conduct violates the CEA depends, in part, on the underlying products at issue.
